Abstract

The purpose of the work was to train students, giving them tools to learn how to create more “eco-friendly” production chains and, at the same time, make them aware of the socio-cultural-economic value of an abandoned city’s ecosystem. It was hypothesized that the bacteria isolated from the sea eyes of the beach “Rinconada”, produced colored pigments with a high biotechnological potential. For this, a visit to the beach was made, each pool of the sea eyes was named and, later, samples of colored biomass were taken, in which the presence of bacteria was suspected. The samples were taken to the laboratory for cultivation in enrichment medium, then transferred to plates with Broth-Agar Marine medium to increase their biomass. Finally, the plates were scraped, placed in a desiccator and the pigments extracted with alcohol-acetone solution. It was filtered and the colored solution was used to paint a canvas. As a result, it was found that bacteria were present and four colored pigments could be extracted. It was concluded that these pigments have a potential biotechnological value.
