Abstract

In this report the effects of Pouteria lucuma on MDA cancer cells will be analyzed. This research was conducted due to the lack of studies regarding the healing properties of lúcuma, besides its relevance for the national territory. Two experiments were done. One of them was a fluorescence assay and the other an absorbance assay. Both of them showed conclusive results of lucuma constantly inducing apoptosis on cancer cells at high concentrations (1:10). We assume that this was caused do to β-carotenes contained in the lucuma, which have cancer annihilating properties.
