Abstract
In the present work, the antifungic activity of nalca aqueous extracts was tested, due to the fastidious presence of molds in fruits and vegetables. The target fungi will be Aspergillus niger (tomato mold) and Penicillium sp (lemon mold). These fungi were selected for its growth in short time. The research question is: How long will take mold apparition in tomatoes and lemons with or without the application of an aqueous nalca extract?. The expected effect of nalca extract will be a delay or a suppression in mold growth. An aqueous extract from nalca was prepared by means of maceration. Several tests determined the fungi growth time as well as the dose – response relationship. Nalca aqueous extract inhibit A. niger and Penicillium sp growth, depending on the concentration and quality of nalca. Nalca is a promising antifungal bioproduct, which delay and/or suppress mold growth in tomatoes and lemons.
