Abstract
By detecting allergies in some classmates and finding signs of disease in the plants of the school, with a group of students we sought to give an answer and a possible solution to the questions: What is the white powder present in the plants? Is this the cause of allergies in people? What affects the plants in the school? and How can you help remedy it? To do this, in the first instance the students, guided by their teacher, carried out a taxonomic inventory and vegetation profiles of the place. In the first phase of the investigation, three important results were obtained: 1) the plants show signs of having been infected by a plague of coconut whitefly, 2) honeydew produced by nymphs of the coconut tree fly is the cause of allergies Y; 3) only two types of plants: Aloe Vera and Pine do not show any signs of infection, so the ability of these plants to act as biosides for whiteflies is evaluated. During the second phase, the efficacy of Aloe Vera extracts was evaluated under laboratory conditions for the elimination of whitefly nymphs present in Ficus trees at school. School research concludes that Aloe Vera can be used as a bioside for the natural control of whiteflies on Ficus trees. The inquiry was materialized by the questions that were developed in the school research and a subsequent communication of the results.
